This "war" as been in the digital world for a while just like VIM and Emacs and no one will ever win.
Why? Because in general they're the same but by themselves they're very different!
Wordpress:
The first thing to say is that wordpress sucks if you want to use it has your blog host. If you want to host a blog on wordpress just forget it, there are better hosts, it doesn't accept javascript, any third party plugins or any third party themes which are things that we see in every single blog, if you desagree with me, please state your point.
But when you have your own host... Wordpress takes the lead and keeps it secure! Well, you can't use Blogger on third party hosts but if you could I think it couldn't win Wordpress and why? Because there are tons, tons and tons of plugins to install and they fully integrated with WP itself so the blog stays beautiful even with lots of plugins, there are also many themes. You can also edit the full blog, plugins... to make it just like you'd like and, there's no need to say anything more because those things make WP what it is and how great it is. Only in third party hosts, don't forget it!
Blogger:
Blogger also very good. You can't use it on third party hosts but there's no need to! With an easy setup and configuration Blogger is the winner for people who don't want or don't have money to buy a host. There are lots of themes and very useful plugins, some don't look good but with a few tweaks you can make it look great. You can make your own plugins and easily integrate them on your Blogger blog and you can even create your own template and edit the full blog if you're a little more expert in HTML, CSS and Javascript. Blogger also integrates easily with apps like Intense Debate and others.
Basically, if you have your own host go for Wordpress, if you don't have a host or don't want to buy one go for Blogger.
